What: Hearing of the New Haven Board of Aldermen Considering Proposed Changes to Include Protections on the Basis of Actual or Perceived Gender Identity or Expression

The Legislation Committee of the New Haven Board of Aldermen will be considering proposed changes to the City’s Equal Opportunity Ordinances to include explicit protections on the basis of actual or perceived gender identity or expression – sponsored by Aldermen Mike Jones, Matt Smith, and Justin Elicker. This legislation clarifies existing law, as determined by the CCHRO and codified by the General Assembly, and allows the City of New Haven to publicly reaffirm its commitment to providing an equal opportunity for all of its residents to participate in civic life. Please attend this important hearing and stand with other supporters of this legislation on Tuesday, October 11th.

Join us for a day of exciting advocacy and empowerment. This is our chance to unify and together urge our legislators to support HB 6599!
Equality Day is your opportunity to hear exciting guest speakers from the transgender and ally communities, meet other advocates and citizen activists working to help get HB 6599 passed, get a mini-training in how to lobby your legislators, and talk to your representatives and senators about making our state free and equal in gender identity and gender expression for all Connecticut residents!
Never spoken to your legislator before? No problem. We will give you all the materials and resources you need and take you through the process. We will even book the appointment for you.
