Movies to Watch: Unveiled

Being the good interns we are, last night we had a movie night devoted to movies that had characters that did not fit the binary gender mold.  The movie we watched this time was called Unveiled, a German film.  Unveiled followed the journey of Fariba, as she flees Iran because of her sexuality.  Circumstances arise in which she was not granted immunity in Germany but her male friend, who commits suicide is.  She takes over his identity and presents as male throughout her time in Germany.  Not only does this movie gender bend, it also speaks loudly about the barriers immigrants face while living in a new country, from discrimination from citizens, all the way to the struggles to get papers needed to be able to get a job legally.  Definitely an interesting movie.
